So… You’re moving homes, and your real estate agent just dropped the bomb — you need to get an end of lease flea treatment done because you’ve had a pet in the house.
Damn.
Last thing you need when you’re packing boxes, cleaning every surface, sorting out the move, paying a new bond (or a mortgage!), and trying not to lose your mind, right?
Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered.
What Is an End of Lease Flea Treatment?
If you’ve had a dog or cat at your rental property — even if they’ve never had fleas — most rental agreements (especially in NSW) will require a flea treatment before you hand the keys back.
It’s not because they think you’re dirty — it’s just a standard condition to make sure there’s no risk of fleas being left behind for the next tenants.
And yes — you’ll need a receipt to prove it was done by a licensed pest controller. That’s where we come in.
What Does the Treatment Involve?
Our End of Lease Flea Treatment includes:
– A targeted insecticidal spray throughout the property (internal and external if pets had outdoor access)
– Treatment of carpets, floorboards, rugs, soft furnishings, and pet bedding areas
– Use of a residual flea product that continues working even after you’ve moved out
– Thorough coverage — from bedrooms to living areas, under furniture, skirting boards, and entry points
If you’ve got a yard, garden, or balcony area the pet used regularly, we’ll treat those too.
When Should the Treatment Be Done?
The flea treatment should be done after most of your belongings have been moved out of the home. This allows us to do a blanket spray over as much floor space as possible which is crucial for full coverage and effectiveness. If you still have furniture or boxes covering large floor areas, it limits our ability to properly treat the space.
How Long Does It Take?
Most treatments take about 30–45 minutes, depending on the size of the property. You’ll need to vacate for 2–4 hours after the treatment to let everything settle and dry.
Do I Need to Do Anything Beforehand?
Just a few easy things:
– Vacuum all carpets and dispose of the bag or empty the canister
– Wash any pet bedding (or toss it if it’s time to upgrade!)
– Let us know if your pet had any favourite nap spots we should focus on
That’s it. We’ll handle the rest.
Do You Provide a Receipt for the Real Estate?
Absolutely — once the treatment is done, we’ll email you a PDF receipt that includes our business details, license number, treatment date, and what was done — everything your agent or landlord needs.
